It is a UK register of complementary health practitioners. I practice in accordance with their code of ethics and standards. Freedom Through Therapy
Freedom Through Therapy subscribes to “Data Protection” and is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when using this service or website you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement. The rules processing personal data are set out in the General Data Protection Regulation (the”GDPR”) refer to article 6.
Freedom Through Therapy may change this policy from time to time by updating this page. You should check this page from time to time to ensure that you are happy with any changes. This policy is effective from 13/04/18.
What I collect for therapy
I may collect the following information:
- full name and address
- contact information including telephone & email address
- contact details of next of kin (optional & for emergencies only)
- date of birth
- your GPs details in case consent is required
- details of specific health care professionals in case consent is required
What I do with the information I gather (therapy)
I require this information for the purpose of communication and should an emergency occur and in particular for the following reasons:
- To contact you to rearrange or confirm appointments
- To discuss your progress as agreed
- To contact your next of kin should you fall ill during therapy
- To ask your GP or another health care professional for consent to treat you
Freedom Through Therapy is committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, I have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information I collect in person or online. Online email information is password protected written information gathered during a therapy session is stored in a locked file. Written information will be shredded after a period of eight years from commencement of the first therapy session. Eight years is in accordance with the guidelines set out by the CNHC and is in line with NHS policy. Written information gathered during a therapy session is only relevant to your progress and care is taken to not use any data that identifies you, your name and personal details will not be recorded during this process.
A cookie is a small file which asks permission to be placed on your computer’s hard drive. Once you agree, the file is added and the cookie helps analyse web traffic or lets you know when you visit a particular site. Cookies allow web applications to respond to you as an individual. The web application can tailor its operations to your needs, likes and dislikes by gathering and remembering information about your preferences.
We use traffic log cookies to identify which pages are being used. This helps us analyse data about webpage traffic and improve our website in order to tailor it to customer needs. We only use this information for statistical analysis purposes and then the data is removed from the system.
Overall, cookies help us provide you with a better website by enabling us to monitor which pages you find useful and which you do not. A cookie in no way gives us access to your computer or any information about you, other than the data you choose to share with us.

Controlling your personal information
Information provided online at the point of making contact or in person during a therapy session will only be retained for the period of the therapeutic alliance. As soon as therapy has concluded by agreement for the last time, all data written or online will be destroyed or removed.
I will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties unless I have your permission or are required by law to do so. I may use your personal information to send you promotional information about third parties which I think you may find interesting or helpful if you tell me that you wish this to happen. If you wish to be notified of helpful contacts or events I will ask you to sign a positive consent document and this will be stored as evidence that permission has been granted by you. If at any time you change your mind you have the right to withdraw consent and your contact details will be removed.
I may at times require the input from a trained therapy supervisor to aid your progress, I will ask your permission to discuss your case and get this in writing. Your personal details will be removed and at no point will your identity be exposed.
You may request details of personal information which I hold about you under the Data Protection Act 1998 at any time and this information will be made available to you within one month of initial request and free of charge.
If you believe that any information I am holding on you is incorrect or incomplete, please write to me or email me as soon as possible. I will promptly correct any information found to be incorrect.
If you have a grievance in relation to data privacy please discuss this with me in the first instance, if you are not confident that your issue has been resolved please contact the ICO directly.
